Phil Gramm Overlooked

Reporting on the Washington Times interview with Mr. Deregulation himself,  Phil Gramm, former senator and co-chair of the McCain campaign, focused on his references to Americans as a nation of whiners in a “mental recession. “  Overlooked in the coverage was Gramm’s gleeful observation that the addition of millions of new workers in India and China was great for American businesses and his incredible boast  that nearly everything Americans buy today is made by American companies–with CHINESE labor!  That should make all those whining auto workers and steel workers in Michigan and Ohio and the millions of others whose jobs were shipped overseas feel all warm and fuzzy!  McCain has said he doesn’t know much about the economy, and relies on advice from people like Phil Gramm.  Small wonder he described the economy as fundamentally strong, even as Wall Street melted and banks closed.
